Cuando la mujer con la que tuve una aventura de una noche me anuncia que acabo de ser padre, mi mundo se viene abajo. Tengo que elegir entre ser padre soltero de una recién nacida o firmar los papeles para que alguien la adopte, y la decisión es fácil: tras apenas unas horas cojo un avión para ir a buscar a mi hija. Ava Lin is six and a half years old, and she loves bubble tea, finding treasures, and animals (note the 117 varieties of pets on her wish list). She’s very good at drawing and balancing pasta on her nose. And there’s a Very Exciting Thing happening in her life right now: tomorrow is her first day of first grade! Which means she gets a new backpack, new pencils, and a new lunch box. But what she really wants to get in first grade is a best friend, which isn’t as easy as she thought.

Ava Lin is six and a half years old, and this year she’s in first grade. She’s really good at making things and eating snacks and making lists. But what she really wants to be good at is earning enough tickets to fill her kindness bucket. In Ava’s class, if you do something kind for someone, that person puts a ticket in your bucket, and whoever has the most tickets by the end of the week gets to choose a prize. Ava really wants to choose the narwhal eraser—she NEEDS that eraser—so she has to be sure she’s the best bucket filler of the week, no matter what.

Everything’s changed. The evil Yasmin won. Can anyone stop her? Yasmin succeeded in defeating Amanda and unleashing an ancient evil on the world. She’s more powerful than ever before. Many have died. The few who survived are on the run from Yasmin and her coven. But the Dark Magus won’t be stopped. She will hunt the survivors down, no matter what. Can anyone stop Yasmin? Far away, in another dimension, outside of our universe, someone thought to be lost is just waking up. Maybe there is hope after all?

The situation has changed. Yasmin is out to kill her and destroy the world as we know it. Amanda isn’t going to sit and wait for her though. She starts to work her way through the Nomads closest allies, hunting Yasmin down. But the dark Magus has plans of her own.

The Inquisition found the Time Device. With one simple change, one thousand years ago, they could destroy everything. Sent back in time, Amanda must stop them before it’s too late. But dealing with the Inquisition is only the beginning. Amanda must find the strength to survive through a series of adventures and revelations in her quest to return home.

Ava Lin is in first grade, and she’s really good at dancing, making up games, and finding treasure. This week she’s super-duper excited, because it’s going to be the BEST WEEK EVER. First, her popo—Chinese for grandmother—is coming to visit, and Ava can’t wait to show off the special acorn, button, Post-it note, hair clip, and inside part of a marker that she found on the school playground. And second, this Sunday is the school walkathon. If Ava and her best friend, Kushi, manage to walk twenty-five laps, they will each earn a gold medal!
