Story0
Cyprus gained independence in 1960 without a strong national identity. Citizens considered themselves Greeks or Turks, not Cypriots. Ethnic pride, reinforced by proximity to both countries, inflamed the majority of the population, and was encouraged by the historic rivalry between the two homelands. While examining the nation-state as an institution, I discovered a mechanism I now call transnational nationalism. Analysis of the Cypriot crisis of 1974 gives further insight into cultural politics in lands such as Northern Ireland, Lebanon, Palestine, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Story0
Ever since the partition of the Indian subcontinent on August 15, 1947, into India and Pakistan, the erstwhile country of Punjab (the Indian-Punjab) has been occupied and colonized by India. A process of alien subjugation, domination, and exploitation of the Sikh state that began with the British colonization continues under the Republic of India. India is not only using Punjab's land and resources for itself but has also proceeded to destroy Sikh national, religious, linguistic, and cultural identity.

Climate change: a man-made doom and gloom disastrous event on the horizon, or a false god made up by a clever devil often called Lucifer? This book offers some common sense to help you decide. The difference between a diamond and a chunk of coal is just a little "know-how." They are both pure carbon. In the last few years, man has learned how to grow diamonds in labs, not mines, but the prices are nearly the same. Sell the sizzle when you've got no facts; carbon is simply carbon.

Are you stressed out that your doctor does not know why your headaches get worse when you play and they never go away? If the answer is yes, you are like so many of my patients, from everyday people to professional athletes, who are frustrated, fed up, and want to get answers for why they feel so bad after they get hit in the head. Story0
Perhaps nothing is more unfair in America than the vast chasm between the haves and the have-nots. Tax policy, as practiced in the US, consists basically of tinkering around the edges. It concludes and argues that only a small tax on wealth is fair and how elimination of all other taxes and fees will result in a more perfect free-market economy, elimination of government's borrowing at the expense of future generations, and a society more like the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence. It also discusses what it will take to bring about such a taxation revolution.

Samuel Sutton Jr. grew up poor in Kinston, North Carolina. His childhood home had no central heat or hot water. He and his family walked seven miles roundtrip to church every Sunday. But Sam was to rise far in life from these humble beginnings. Joining the Navy in 1979, he embarked on a 30-year military career, serving first as a sailor, then as an aide to the nation's top admirals and generals, and finally as a personal valet to presidents Bill Clinton, G. W. Bush, and Barack Obama, making him a virtual member of the First Family, an eyewitness to their public and private lives.

"Wisdom is riding on a passenger train of time on a collision course with destiny, and we are all in for the ride. This book is about wisdom riding on this train." These words, as part of the introduction of the book, set the specific context and overall challenge and purpose for this book. Here, wisdom is likened to a lady riding on the train of civilization past prominence in a social, political, and spiritual direction. But the book argues in recent times, she has been forced to ride in the back of the train. Now we live in a vast field of folly. How do we find our way out?

Story0
The Biblical History of the Liberal, and of Conservatism came about through some discussion of the 2016 campaigns and the ways and means of the various parties in their attempt to be the winner in 2016. There was a noted difference in the way of those leaning to the leftward end of the political spectrum and of those leaning to the right side. There was quite a bit said regarding these two main ways, and the idea came across to make note of those observations. How far back did we go in our discussions? A ways, and in a general way, we went back to biblical times.

Story0
Much has been written about America and what it has meant, not only to the North American region but to the world as well. We tend to focus on the positives of who we are and our accomplishments. Not everyone feels the same, as there are many descendants of those who were displaced by the European settlers. Those descendants are with us and still struggling to make a living in what used to be their land. Their struggle has been mostly ignored. The opinions expressed by some of those people are documented in this book, and they wait for answers to their plea for acceptance.

Did our forefathers overlook something important when they were writing the Constitution? Bart Stupak, a nine-term Democratic Congressman from Michigan’s First Congressional District, brought two unshakable principles with him to Capitol Hill in 1992: a firm belief in the sanctity of life, and the conviction that health care was a right for all Americans and not a privilege for the fortunate few. Studies indicating that 45,000 Americans died needlessly every year for lack of access to health care inspired Congressman Stupak’s tireless efforts, often at great personal cost, to pass lifesaving legislation while remaining true to his right-to-life principles.
