Midas is an African gray parrot that was rescued in 2007. After posting some of our conversations on social media, many friends fell in love with the "cantankerous" old bird whose ability to be part of the conversation. He may be the cause of frustration one day, but smiling about it the next because we live in the hood.

This is a remarkable dog story of a highly intelligent and gifted, athletic dog challenged against insurmountable odds in an attempt to regain his health and his life back after an acute accident. It is a deep bond between owner and pet canine or, better said, two best friends working together to discover a path to survival.

This cookbook will not be like most other cookbooks. And when we write this, we're not claiming that we have reinvented the genre, one that has not really changed all that much--other than in presentation--over the centuries. Our book is not organized by the seasons. It is not pegged to certain proteins, the cuisine of a specific country or cooking techniques, be they primal or avant-garde. Instead, we have organized this book around a handful of the most commercially important and recognizable grapes.

Ron Frazier’s rescue dog, Gracie, changed his life and his spirit. As an adored member of his pack, she taught him valuable life lessons, patience, and how to love unconditionally. But as she neared the end of her earthly life, Ron had no idea of the signals, signs, and spiritual events that were about to take place and the impact they would have on his life from that point forward.

Sometimes, love can truly take you by surprise. This is how it was with us when we encountered a little lost rescue dog who needed a home. When she entered our lives, we began to understand the joy, love, and frustration only life with a rescue dog can bring. Then a couple years later, we invited another rescue dog into our family, changing our lives in ways we could not have imagined before.
