Although I did not live through the Second World War, I think I gained an idea of what life was like for my parents during that time. This book is an attempt to pass on my understanding of their experiences. Details of the stories have been recreated to the best of my memory, but are often creatively enhanced, and fictitious characters have been included to support the telling of my parents’ stories.
