Originally published in the St. Jamess Gazette, these essays aim to bridge the gap between the intricate world of biology and the everyday reader. With a heartfelt thanks to the Editor for allowing this republication, I set out to demystify the principles and methods of evolution for those who may not have a scientific background. They want to know why ...

The Literary Legacy of Rebecca West is the first book to explore the entire corpus of her extraordinary 71-year writing career. The general introductory studies of West are outdated and do not take into account her posthumous publications, or her large literary archive of unpublished letters and manuscripts. Previous scholarly books have chopped West up into categories and genres instead of following the evolution of her career.

Story0
In this podcast, we will read the full text of Anthony C. Yu's translation and present the reading in 15-20 minute episodes. Each episode will have a short introduction; where we have been and where we are going and end with thoughts on the episode. This work is dense and layered and a combination of prose and poetry. It is also a rollicking good story as Quan Yin gathers her troop; Monkey, her priest, Sandy and Dear Pigsy. Monkey is Wu'kung, aware of vacuity. The Genocidal Gaze

Story1
The first genocide of the 20th century, though not well known, was committed by Germans between 1904-1907 in the country we know today as Namibia, where they exterminated thousands of Herero and Nama people and subjected the surviving indigenous men, women, and children to forced labor. The perception of Africans as subhuman - lacking any kind of civilization, history, or meaningful religion - and the resulting justification for the violence against them is what author Elizabeth R. Baer refers to as the "genocidal gaze", an attitude that was later perpetuated by the Nazis.
