The Miner’s Wife follows the life of Virginia Hopper Spears, a strong and determined woman living in early 20th-century Illinois. When her husband, Ron Spears, goes to war and later vanishes into the Oregon mountains in search of gold, Virginia is left to raise their five children alone during a time of war, poverty, and the Great Depression.
