It is one of the most well-known and well-loved fantasy epics of the twentieth century: the story of Elric, emperor of the dying kingdom of Melniboné. For a hundred centuries the Melnibonéans have ruled from the Dragon Isle of Imrryr. Now, after years of corruption and decadence, Elric’s amoral cousin Prince Yyrkoon, the brother of his beloved Cymoril, sets his eyes on the Ruby Throne. Elric must face his treacherous cousin not as a warrior but as a sorcerer king once again in league with the ancient gods of Melniboné, the Chaos Lords, and thus sealing his inexorable fate.

They are the most ferocious and clever predators in the sea. Their brains are the second largest of any animal. Highly intelligent, social, and persistent, their coordinated hunting efforts rarely fail in securing prey. Their diet consists of anything unlucky enough to be in their crosshairs: fish, sharks, squid, seals, whales, sea birds.

Jack und Cliff werden beim Austragen der Post beinahe von einer unheimlichen Limousine überfahren: Sie können keinen Fahrer am Steuer erkennen, der Wagen fährt wie von Geisterhand. Mrs. Culver, die Besitzerin, ist der festen Überzeugung, dass der Geist ihres kürzlich verstorbenen Mannes in dem Auto spukt. Seit seinem Tod blinken auf einmal die Scheinwerfer nachts auf, die Hupe ertönt und auch das Autoradio schaltet sich von allein ein. Jack und Cliff können dies zunächst nicht glauben, aber dann werden sie selbst Zeugen des Spuks und geraten ins Visier des dämonischen Dodge.
