As a child, Steve Palmer never belonged - not in school, not in his troubled home, not with friends. After his father and grandfather passed away, he was sent to a series of rehabs and halfway houses before ending up on the streets. Drugs and alcohol soon became a way of life. Eventually, he would go on to a career running some of the country’s most celebrated and innovative fine dining establishments. But first, he had to learn how to be sober in an industry awash with alcohol and drugs.

During the pandemic pause, Sharon reflected on her life and memoir, The Broken Road to Mental Health In Life and In Business (2019), realizing she had suppressed significant trauma from her young adult years.

Grant Muller was nearly killing himself – quite literally. A desperate quest to get rich had made him a millionaire before the age of 30 but then taken him to the brink: homeless, living on drugs and hustle. If his lifestyle didn’t end him, one of the thugs he owed money to would surely do the job. So when he finally got off the streets and got clean, he knew everything had to change. He reinvented himself, and along the way came to understand that real success in sales isn’t just about the hustle, or about being top of mind. It’s about the human connections you create.

I should be dead today. Instead, I am gifted with a life beyond my wildest dreams and have yet taken that for granted. It is my responsibility to pass it on. The future is now. As I continue to witness the rising amount of suicides, overdoses, and senseless mass shootings in our country, I felt compelled to share my journey to mental wellness.
