The invention of the telephone changed the world. That’s no exaggeration. Phones are such ubiquitous features of our lives now that it can be difficult to imagine life without them, or to understand just how astonishing this invention truly was in the 19th century.

Starting with Alexander Graham Bell’s revolutionary "harmonic telegraph", by the middle of the 20th century the phone system had grown into something extraordinary, a web of cutting-edge switching machines and human operators that linked together millions of people like never before. But the network had a billion-dollar flaw, and once people discovered it, things would never be the same.

For a beginner, programming can seem like something scary or hard to do. With all the technical terms and concepts out there, as well as the numerous programming languages available at your disposal, it is so important - now more than ever before - to build a strong foundation. When you understand the fundamentals of programming, learning any programming language is a piece of cake. In addition, programming is not just all about coding; it is also about knowing how to plan your work, how to set deadlines, how to communicate with team members, how to use existing components, etc.

For a beginner, hacking can seem like something scary or hard to do. Sometimes, we see movies and read the news on how systems such as Snapchat, eBay, or Google have been compromised and imagine that hacking is difficult. We think of it as something meant for people spending 24 hours a day in a basement, somewhere. This is not the case. This field is open for anyone.

The digital age has brought with it many modern-day miracles. The ability to shop, contact each other, and learn online has fundamentally changed everyone’s lives. But beneath the surface, digital media has damaged our brains severely.
