Philip Johnson, Josephine Baker, John Lennon: They, and so many more who made New York City the center of the universe in the 1970s, all had one thing in common besides their adopted hometown - they shopped at a legendary palace of books, music, and art: Rizzoli Books at 712 Fifth Avenue. There, Kennedys and Rockefellers mingled with tourists and "regular" customers under the watchful gaze of sophisticated employees.

È così che Young, giovane studente universitario con velleità letterarie, tiene lontano il futuro ogni sera. Un po' per noia, un po' per paura, si fa beffe di tutto - dei soldi, della famiglia, del senso comune che guarda chi è giovane e gay con sospetto e invidia. Ma quando Jaehui, sua migliore amica, coinquilina e compagna di sbronze, trova un lavoro e parte per l'Australia, Young si ritrova solo e la sua vita accelera all'improvviso.
