The Requiem is an 1886 short story by Anton Chekhov. Andrey Andreyitch, a shopkeeper, comes to the local village church to ask for prayers for his recently deceased daughter Maria, and is chided by the priest for the wrong kind of language that he'd used in his written request. The shopkeeper's daughter was an actress, and quite a well known one, and he simply fails to understand why the clergymen are so offended by the word 'harlot' with which he described her occupation.

Private investigator Samantha Moon gets up close and personal with her dead ex-husband's mistress, Nancy, who might be a woman who knows too much. When Nancy opens up to Sam about her history with Danny, Sam tries to forgive her and move on with her life, maybe even be friends. After all, Danny didn't play it straight with either of them. Despite her good intentions, something rises up in Sam, something dark and evil, and something that she can barely keep under control.

When we lose everything, we tend to gain nothing back without help and support of loved ones. This audiobook describes the many trials and tribulations through which coma patients go. One would consider this counterintuitive, being that one is considered “unconscious” when in a coma. I can testify personally, however, that when you are in a coma, you are not asleep. It’s a dream sort of state. Most of all, this story tries to convey the message not to give up the tough times for easier ones if it’s not right. Sometimes, we must all bear seemingly unbearable pain.
