Simone Lucie Ernestine Marie Bertrand de Beauvoir (January 9, 1908 - April 14, 1986) was a French existentialist philosopher, writer and social theorist. Beauvoir wrote novels, essays, biographies, autobiographies, and monographs on philosophy, politics, and social issues. She was best known for her "trailblazing work in feminist philosophy," including The Second Sex, published in 1949, a detailed analysis of women's oppression and a foundational tract of contemporary feminism. Virginia Woolf (January 25, 1882 - March 28, 1941) was an English writer from Kensington, London, who pioneered a narrative mode called "stream of consciousness" to describe the thoughts and feelings of the narrator. Regarded as one of the most prominent modernist 20th-century writers, Woolf's works have gained much attention for inspiring feminism, as well as, numerous films, novels, and plays. Shirley Temple (April 23, 1928 - February 10, 2014) was an American actress, singer, dancer, and diplomat, who was Hollywood's number-one box-office draw as a child actress from 1934 to 1938. Temple began her film career in 1931 when she was three years old. In 1935, she received a special Juvenile Academy Award for her contributions in motion pictures. Temple embarked on her U.S. diplomatic career in 1969, later being named Ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia, and also served as Chief of Protocol of the United States.

She was also one of the first programmers on the Harvard Mark I computer.

Christabel Harriette Pankhurst (September 22, 1880-February 13, 1958) was a British suffragette born in Manchester, England. A co-founder of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU)—and daughter of women's suffrage movement leader Emmeline Pankhurst and radical socialist Richard Pankhurst—she directed its militant actions from exile in France from 1912 to 1913. In 1914, Pankhurst supported the war against Germany. After the war, she moved to the United States, where she worked as an evangelist for the Second Adventist movement.
