The Water Margin is one of the most popular classics of early Chinese literature. Richard Bernard Heldmann was born on 12th October 1857, in St Johns Wood, North London. By his early 20’s Heldmann began publishing fiction for the myriad magazine publications that had sprung up and were eager for good well-written content. Marsh was a prolific writer and wrote almost 80 volumes of fiction as well as many short stories, across many genres from horror and crime to romance and humour. His unusual characters, plotting devices and other literary developments have identified his legacy as one of the best British writers of his time.

This is a sequel to The Return of Sam Rache. According to legend, the Far West's captain, Captain Grant Marsh, ordered a fortune in gold bullion buried to make room for the wounded soldiers and boiler fuel for the trip downstream to Ft. Lincoln. Before he could return, the river rose and wiped out all the landmarks he used to mark the spot. When Sam was tasked with burying the gold, he made two maps, one using distant landmarks and the other nearby trees and stones.

The storks tell many, many stories to their young ones, all about the bogs and marshes. In general each story is suited to the age and sense of the little storks. While the youngest ones are satisfied with, "Kribble-krabble, plurry-murry," and think it a very fine story, the older ones demand something with more sense to it, or at least something about the family.

His writing included adventures and historical romances, mystery, fantasy and supernatural fiction. For the first nine years of his life, Marriott Watson lived in Australia. Early in 1873, Marriott Watson moved to New Zealand, where his father was incumbent of St John's, Christchurch.

Henry Brereton Marriott Watson was a prolific writer of Gothic horror during his day. This short story, originally from 1893, is the tale of a man, in love with a magical swamp woman, who sets out to find her, in order that they may run away together and marry. But, before the two are able to leave, a menacing, sickly specter appears before the man, to object.
