The story blends a bit of imagination with the true story about six-year-old Paddy and his life in New York City, to rural Kilkenny County in Ireland, in the 1960s, and back again to New York, and how he learned that Banshees are real while also managing to navigate and survive a broken home and a variety of other early-life challenges. The boy’s name may not really be Paddy, but to tell this story, a hint of Irishness and anonymity may be necessary.

Hannah is shaken to the core after the mysterious death of her husband, Captain Hovey. A man that was as cruel as he was loved. Shunned by her neighbors and the town, Hannah is lonely and desperate. Some believe she was a witch. Others believe she was an outcast.

The story is set in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley, the playground for all the rich and poor “Flower Children” who flocked to San Francisco during the summer of love. They came to advocate Peace-and-Love as an antidote to the violent backdrop of the Viet Nam War raging into the 1960s and beyond.
