But as Derrick Eldridge volunteers for a risky mission to infiltrate the enemy, he leaves his best friend alone in confronting the ministers of MOTHER, who secretly manipulate Europe’s government, and the same ministers who wish to remove Arinna and will not take a new threat to their power lightly.

How do you remove a war hero from power? Known as the Lady Grey, her leadership won the apocalyptic war that ravaged Europe. After a decade of storms, disease, drought, and riots, the US conquers its troubles by militarizing its government. Old democratic allies in Europe respond uneasily to the change. Arinna and Michael Prescot are just two of the many former soldiers sent to embassies in the hopes of strengthening faltering US alliances in 2055. But as the US becomes embroiled with new internal terrorism, its agents in Europe are offered intimidation, lies, and deceit rather than explanations.
