Is your dog or cat or parakeet property or family? Not in law but in your heart? Can a pet really love you back? Or is it a different affection? Are you not kind to those who feed and shelter you? But what if your dog could talk back? Would your cat speak to you kindly?

Elizabeth Carter doesn't want to go to her family reunion—but she doesn't want to be abducted by aliens either. The earth isn't the only planet with life, and it makes a very good tourist trap. Elizabeth Carter and her mom are on their way to the woods for the Carter Annual Family Reunion, but it's the last place on earth they wanna be.

Three large objects were heading towards Earth. Large enough to do real damage. Even more concerning, they didn’t look like asteroids at all. The three appeared to be rectangular. They were coming in fast, incredibly fast, on a collision course. Another notification alarm began sounding. The object’s trajectory and speed were changing. They were slowing and separating. Taking up positions around the Earth. The station supervisor activated the emergency alert system, and reached for the red phone.
