In a forest wilderness, a dungeon reappears after surviving a nation ending war. The magical shock has devastated both the dungeon and its occupants, in more ways than one. Doc find himself alone in this new place, surrounded with unknown dangers. Claire, Doc's partner and guide, finds herself at facing the nightmares she wrought using Doc, having freed herself from her mother's control. The pressure mounts on both as the damage is made clear. Even then, the wilderness surrounding them is filled with all manner of danger and traps, everything ruled by the law of the strong.

Marstin Hardgrove was orphaned at a young age, forced to live on the streets, and needed to turn to thievery to survive. When a special job assigned to him by the Thieves’ Guild went awry, the guild leadership punished him with a beating, compelled him to eat dirt and rocks to soothe his hunger, and left him to die in an abandoned mine. Unbeknownst to the young thief, when he was forced to eat that handful of dirt and rocks…he also ended up swallowing a tiny dungeon crystal.

Within the verdant green of the slime forests, new slimes are born and new evolutions are found. Doc watches on as his slimes take on new life and form the budding beginnings of tribal life, complete with leaders, goals, and increasing rivalries. The martial grey slimes, the productive herb slimes, the swarming bug slimes, and the elusive mimic slimes all seek to stake their claim, even as the lieutenants work to strengthen their abilities as true bosses.

Progen defeated the Parasyte that was engineered by the malevolent Blood Curse, but there is still a lot that the dungeon crystal needs to do to fully control his entire dungeon. While he actively works to finish controlling the rest of the body that hosts his presence, there lies one major obstacle to the culmination of his plans: the brain. The Blood Curse has locked itself away behind a barrier that keeps Progen from spreading his influence inside, while also preventing the Curse from manipulating anything outside of its hiding place.

David knows all about working in a dead-end job. At least he thinks he does. After a freak accident in the barren wilderness of the Australian outback, he finds himself confronted with the true meaning of the term. David is now a dungeon core, charged with producing armies of minions and ensuring his domain is a place where the unworthy go to die. But the accident not only transformed David, it fractured him. Part of his psyche still remains with his broken body.

Emma and Anna may have defeated the last foe to their Empire on Earth, but at a terrible price. The planet's atmosphere has largely burned off, and the remaining ecosystems are on the verge of total collapse. The other planets of the solar system offer a new home, new hope, and new threats.

The solar system has fallen, and the galaxy awaits. The Sol system has now gained admission to galactic society, a junior member held in little esteem, with obligations mounting. Emma and Anna seek to hold their society together as they come into new conflict with the Scythe, find new SCIENCE that needs doing, and establish themselves as a force in galactic politics. The threats and opportunities surrounding them have never been so great, and the answers to some long unanswered questions will finally reveal themselves.
