Dagon is the second story of the writer H.P. Lovecraft, written in 1917 and published ,for the first time, in 1919. The work takes its title from the mythological God Dagon, and tells a disturbing story, happened years before to a man with the obsession of suicide. Before throwing himself from the window of his attic, this man writes some notes related to his mental state. Then, he began to recall an old story that happened in the years of the First World War: suddenly, he finds himself a prisoner of a German ship in the Pacific Ocean.

Nuestro protagonista es un adicto a las drogas, dominado por ideas suicidas desde un incidente que le ocurrió durante la guerra, cuando era oficial de la Marina mercante. Cuando su barco iba ser capturado por los alemanes, consiguió escapar en una lancha salvavidas. Navegó a la deriva durante varios días, hasta que encalló en una especie de tierra, que era negra hasta donde alcanzaba la vista. Había allí toda clase de seres indescriptibles.

"Dagon." Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937) is a novelist famous for his horror stories, fantasy and science fiction. Although he was not famous during his lifetime, his work is now considered a classic of literature. Lovecraft's work has influenced many authors, including Stephen King, who considers him "the greatest craftsman of the classic horror story of the 20th century."

Un antiguo marinero escribe su carta de suicidio relatando los motivos que le han llevado a querer poner fin a su vida. Cuando el barco en el que navegaba fue capturado por soldados alemanes, consiguió huir con provisiones en un pequeño bote. Se encontraba completamente perdido en el océano, cuando un día se despertó y su bote estaba encallado en un suelo negro que llegaba hasta donde la vista alcanzaba y despedía un olor nauseabundo. Allí encontraría misteriosos restos de seres desconocidos y a una criatura monstruosa que le perseguiría en sus recuerdos el resto de su vida.

Über manche Fälle wollte ich den Mantel des Schweigens fallen lassen, da man nicht mit genauer Gewissheit die Geschehnisse rational nachvollziehen konnte. Durch meinen verehrten Kollegen H. P. Lovecraft sah ich mich aber gezwungen doch zumindest im kleinen Kreise Rechenschaft abzugeben und einen Bericht zu verfassen, der eine nüchternere Einschätzung der Ereignisse wieder gibt und sich nicht zu weit ins abenteuerliche Phantastische begibt.

Aus der Tiefe des Pazifischen Ozeans ertönt infernalisches Gebrüll, das alles Menschliche verhöhnt. Die Welt, wie wir sie kennen, ist dem Untergang geweiht, denn Seine Zeit ist gekommen! Die Geschichte nimmt uns mit in die Zeit des Ersten Weltkriegs. Ein Matrose landet auf einem deutschen Kriegsschiff in Gefangenschaft. Es gelingt ihm, bei Nacht und Nebel mit einem Beiboot zu entkommen, ungewiss, ob Rettung wartet. Nach vielen Tagen auf offener See taucht unerwartet ein geheimnisvolles Eiland aus dem Meer auf und bringt eine schreckliche Wahrheit an die Oberfläche.
