Prepare for a thought-provoking experience rather than a traditional holiday tale. Rada; A Belgian Christmas Eve is a poignant one-act antiwar play by the English poet Alfred Noyes, written in 1915 amidst the turmoil of World War I. With elements of verse intertwined throughout, this powerful work challenges the norms of holiday storytelling. Accompanied by the evocative music of Duane Steadman, this performance is a striking reminder of the human cost of conflict. (Summary by David Wales)

Story0
A Christmas carol lost for 90 years was re-discovered by Barnsley Museums in 2023 while researching the history of Barnsley town hall. Since it was picked up by the BBC and performed live by the Barnsley Youth Choir on the Broadcasting House show on BBC Radio4 a new Christmas tradition was born and the song is now being sung by choirs and musicians all across the country. We have brought together all known recordings of the song in this podcast. If you are aware of others please get in touch experiencebarnsley@barnsley.gov.uk Hosted on Acast.
