Cette histoire doit son titre à la coiffe, un chaperon de couleur rouge, que porte une petit fille.

Little Red Riding Hood is a young girl, so called because of the red cloak she wears. One day her mother asks her to take some food to her sick grandmother, who lives in a clearing in the nearby forest. On the way to her grandmother, she meets an apparently friendly wolf, and since she had many friends in the animal kingdom, sees no harm in stopping to talk with him. But the wolf is not as he appears to be!

The miller's youngest son is disappointed to learn that his father has passed on, leaving him nothing but a mangy old cat. His dismay turns to delight when he discovers just how far he can go in the world with the cat by his side.

El Gato con Botas? es un cuento popular europeo recopilado, en 1695, por Charles Perrault y publicado en 1697 en su libro Cuentos de Antaño. Cuenta la historia de un gato que, a base de astucia y engaños, consigue la fortuna y la mano de una princesa para su amo, totalmente pobre. El Gato con Botas fue un éxito desde su primera publicación y sigue siendo popular, a pesar de su moral ambigua.

The tale opens with the third and youngest son of a miller receiving his inheritance - a cat. At first, the youngest son laments, as the eldest brother gains the mill, and the middle brother gets the mules. The feline is no ordinary cat, however, but one who requests and receives a pair of boots.

A sa mort, le meunier ne laissa à ses enfants que son moulin, son âne et son chat. Le plus vieux reçut le moulin ; le second, l'âne ; et le troisième n'hérita que d'un chat... botté !

When the youngest of three sons inherits only a cat, he believes he is destined to die of starvation. But the cat turns out to be rather an extraordinary animal. Not only is he able to speak, he is also a highly resourceful and cunning creature. The cat asks for a pair of boots and a sack. He uses the sack to catch rabbits and partridges which he presents to the King as gifts from the "Marquis of Carabas". The King is curious to meet the mysterious Marquis who sends such generous gifts.
