When actuary Ptolemy “Tolly” Blackthorne inherits his grandmother’s scarf—a knitted, contraband probability anchor—he also inherits her secret: a multi-dimensional dragon-racing circuit that runs on risk, wit, and a frankly alarming amount of nacho cheese. Alice is a detective with a bizarre ability. She can take out criminals with her powerful static shocks. Sounds like an impressive weapon? It should be, but she’s been banned from using this power by her bullying chief inspector. Working with her partner, Max Greenstick, Alice investigates a spate of kidnappings and finds herself in a dramatic situation. With thugs closing in and an officer down, she uses her static to gain an advantage and is inevitably suspended from duty. Alice’s only option is to continue investigating undercover.
