• setting & defining difficult boundaries
    May 2 2024

How do you set boundaries with difficult people? It's a tough question, but in this episode, Tori and Chanel break it down and talk about how to do it! From the recommendation of Chanel's therapist, the girls discuss insights from a chapter in the book: Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Glover Tawwab. They reflect on what constitutes a difficult person, what a boundary is, and what fair boundaries look like. The girls also answer questions like are all boundaries good boundaries?
From people-pleasing to the importance of open communication and self-reflection in setting and maintaining boundaries, this episode is packed with useful tips and perspectives. Tori and Chanel also share personal experiences and examples of setting boundaries, such as asking a friend to take down an unflattering photo on social media. We remember the early days of Facebook! They also discuss common reasons why people may not respect boundaries, such as not stating needs or expectations clearly. Overall, the conversation emphasizes the importance of setting and maintaining boundaries for personal growth and healthy relationships.

  • shows we recently binged + solo traveling
    Apr 25 2024

Tori & Chanel are FINALLY back together after Tori's busy few weeks of traveling. And since our favorite duo wasn't spending quality time together, they were able to spend a little more time binging some new shows. First up, the romance drama on Netflix, One Day. We all know how the girls love a good show to cry at and One Day offered just that. !!!SPOILER ALERT!!! This episode recaps the story of Dexter and Emma Morley played by Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod, respectively. This "will-they-won't-they" drama limited series checks all the boxes - it's a friendship story, it's a love story, it's a coming of age story. It's literally everything that you need to sit down and have your heart completely destroyed. And speaking of feeling completely destroyed, Tori & Chanel also recap the docu-series Quiet on Set: the Dark Side of Kids TV which shares the untold story of the toxic and abusive work environment at Nickelodeon Studios. Tori & Chanel reflect on what Nickelodeon meant to them as kids and how this documentary has changed their perspective on Nickelodeon's content during the 90s and early 2000s. From Amanda Bynes to Drake Bell, the girls truly empathize for these child stars and are shocked to learn what was taking place behind the scenes of their favorite TV Channel.

On a lighter note, Chanel asks Tori about her recent solo travels. Tori shares how she's feeling a little run down after all of her travels, but really enjoyed her time alone in Amsterdam. This "solo Bachelorette" as she's calling it, was the perfect way for her to feel a little more independent, test her street smarts, and step outside her comfort zone as an introvert. You can expect some *new* travel essentials that you must pack on your next trip, solo traveling safety tips, and things to keep in mind if you ever want to try travel to a city alone.

  • girl thoughts: cowboy carter, celebs, "as seen on Instagram" & recs from friends
    Apr 11 2024

We're not sure about you, but we can definitely feel the affects of this mercury retrograde. Since the last episode, Tori & Chanel experienced a *minor* earthquake, a solar eclipse, and quite a few other shakeups, but nothing helps get us girls and friends of the podcast back on track like some good old fashioned girl talk.

In this episode, Tori and Chanel debrief each of their earthquake experiences in New Jersey and New York, and reflect on the reality of the situation. In lighter news, Chanel asks Tori what her thoughts are on Beyonce's new album "Cowboy Carter" and they discuss some of their favorite songs.

It wouldn't be an episode of Glad We Talked if there weren't a few favorite product recommendations. Tori reviews hair and skincare product recommendations from friends of the podcast and Chanel offers her insights on some of these favorites as well. From dry scalp to the trending K18 Hair Product line, you might have a few new items to add to cart as well!

And back on a darker note, Tori asks Chanel if she's watched the new "Quiet on Set" documentary about the dark side of Nickelodeon television in the late 90s and early 2000s. No spoiler alerts, but a strong recommendation to watch.

FYI - Since Tori will be traveling, no new episode next week!!!

  • forgotten skincare with founder alex pottash
    Mar 28 2024

This episode is going places Tori & Chanel haven’t gone before… to the parts of our bodies that are often overlooked and infrequently talked about in public… the girls are talking about Forgotten Skincare with the brand's founder and CEO, Alex Pottash.

Alex Pottash founded Forgotten Skincare with a simple idea: to develop solutions for common skin concerns that are often overlooked by mainstream beauty companies. Since starting the company in February 2020, she has helped over 30,000 women feel more confident to go sleeveless and feel like their truest self. WIth their hero product, The Original Underarm Brightening Deodorant leading the way, Forgotten Skincare is on track to break down stigmas in the beauty industry around concerns like dark underarms and inner thighs. When Alex is not working on FS, you can find her on the beach with her Bernedoodle or exploring a National Park.

Tori & Chanel dive deep into how Alex started her brand by using SEO in her previous marketing agency career to identify an underserved market of people who struggle with hyperpigmentation under their arms. And, of course, there’s so much to talk about because the girls want to uncover it all! From laser hair removal to first experiences shaving to bikini lines and the influence of media on hair removal practices, Tori, Chanel and Alex are combing through it all. Of course, it’s hard to talk about hair without talking about beauty standards and confidence around body image and insecurities. The girls spend time to highlight what they do to focus on inward beauty to feel and look their best on the outside.

If you’ve ever wondered what starting your own business is like, Alex also shares her story on how she became a founder and the routines and boundaries she set up to grow her business.

**SPECIAL OFFER** our friends of the pod get 20% off their next purchase of Forgotten Skincare with promo code GWT20

  • spring things: what are we wearing this spring + mental health check-in
    Mar 7 2024

A few nice days in March and we can’t help but feel like spring is on its way. And as our girls are enjoying the warmer weather, longer days, and bought here and there of rain, they’re also thinking about to wear. Much like the millennial clothing crisis episode, Tori and Chanel are yet again puzzled with what they’ll be wearing this spring… especially on their feet. They run through what they typically wear in spring while sharing their thoughts on what’s trending according to Who What Wear, Vogue, and their favorite influencers. From ballet flats to trench coats to athleisure, Tori and Chanel want the friends of the podcast to know what they’ll be adding to cart (or not). Plus, Tori and Chanel touch on Love is Blind (of course) with a few outstanding items. Chanel has an update regarding Sebby’s health and her mental health and Tori laughs about a walk with Mitch.
