In this special episode, we join Lecturer in Philosophy, Dr Noel Kavanagh at a recent spoken word event called Instructions on Not Giving Up curated by broadcaster Ann Marie Kelly and hosted in The Pantry Cafe in Portlaoise.

At the event, Noel's task was to use Philosophy to connect the stories of grief and anguish at the event to give hope and guidance through the dark times. So what Philosophy have to offer humanity?

Following on from the Carlow College Annual Literary Awards and Creative Writing Showcase, Stewart sits down with Donegal poet, Annemarie Ní Churreáin, who presented the awards, to chat about her work, inspiration and process - as well as read a selection of work from across her career.

Annemarie Ní Churreáin’s work places women’s experience at the centre, and imaginatively explores what it might have been like to live in one of Ireland’s state run institutions.

In doing so, we find out what the Romans have done for us, what the Existentialists, and Derrida have to offers us in relation to life's challenges, and the importance of noticing (but not sweating) the small stuff.
