Two old friends remember their shared history very differently.

Rita was one of the first to move into the new estate back in those days. They quickly made fast friends and built something of a community, with book clubs and amature dramatics.

Rita likes to remember those days, that's why she can tolerate Shelagh's company. Shelagh remembers.

Shelagh and Rita are two old friends with a very different take on their shared history over the years...

Shelagh remembers her triumphs and small victories and all those times through her life when she was able to educate her friends in matters of manners and social etiquette and remains equally as dismayed by Rita's social shortcomings.

Over the years Philip and Grandad have mellowed toward each other, that is to say, nobody shouting....when Philip comes home one day Gandad is in his usual chair.....he also has a fat pigeon on his head.......

After a technicolour week in Wales with Aunty Vi and Uncle Bryn, Philip prepares to return to his seemingly grey life in Lincolnshire ...... but then he meets the woman on the train ...and the story just sort of happens and there's cake and before he knows whats happening ...mum is there and it's all a little too late

Young self confessed confabulator Philip navigates his way through a dull life in Lincolnshire living with a miserable Grandad, disinterested dad, frustrated mum and horrible brother, nobody listens to him anyway so he can just rattle on...then in the summer of 1978 he is sent to Wales and meets the colourful lives of Aunty Vi and Uncle Bryn
