Happy Father's Day to all fathers and father figures. Today we honor the men who have loved, guided, protected, provided for, and cared for the families entrusted to them. While there is no perfect manual for fatherhood, Jesus gave us a powerful example in the parable of the Prodigal Son.
In this episode of Proclamation Station, we take a closer look at the father in Luke 15 and explore the qualities that made him truly great. He allowed his younger son to learn difficult lessons through the consequences of his choices, yet he never stopped loving him. When his son returned home in repentance, the father responded with compassion, forgiveness, restoration, and grace. He also lovingly corrected his older son, teaching him the importance of mercy, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
Together, we discuss wisdom, stewardship, repentance, forgiveness, family restoration, and the powerful love that reflects the heart of our Heavenly Father. We also examine how both sons needed guidance and healing, and how the father's response provides a model for families today.
Listen now and discover what made the Prodigal Son's father great—and what fathers, families, and believers can learn from his example.
