God instituted the seventh day as a day of rest and worship for Israel to remember him and to stop their work. While Christ fulfills the Sabbath and we no longer follow it as a ceremony, there are important lessons for us to learn about work, rest, and worship from the Sabbath passages.

God gives clear instructions about the improper way to speak of him, about him, and to him. Yet most people today blatantly disregard his instructions and Christians should never be the ones to use God’s name wrongly.

God demands the sole worship of his people and we need to be careful that nothing else takes his place in our devotion.

God’s ten most famous commandments were uttered loudly and written in stone for people to study, repeat, memorize, and obey. The first and most important command is to exclusively worship the one true God. He deserves all the devotion of our hearts!

Paul ends his final letter by describing the closeness of the Lord Jesus he experienced in his final difficulties of life. Our students need to trust Christ more than people, just like Paul did!

King Josiah was a godly man who met a sad end at only 39 years old. We can take important warnings that Josiah ignored so we can remain more faithful to God.

Paul describes a number of people and relationships he had in his ministry that we can learn from. He suffered well and we can too!

Paul says that he finished his Christian work and that he looks back on his life with no regrets. Our students would be wise to live now so they won’t regret it later.
