Money is a language, and a form of magic.  In Icon Magic we present an alternative language to money in which we can express the interactions of a replication economy instead of a consumption economy.  

We aim to create a philosophical language for describing the things we wish to replicate from trash.  If we represent any "thing" in the most abstract sense with a self-replicating(both in physical and digital media) icon using the language of Geometron, we can then represent any collection of "things" as a collection of these icons.  To make a replication economy which replaces the monetary economy we then carefully construct these sets in whatever way eases this replication process the most.  

At the end I also discuss how the system has evolved over the last year and why I believe we're much closer to being able to make this work and scaling it up now to a year ago.  I'll be posting links to the updated versions of the software mentioned here soon, under "iconmagic".

This is about the PATH OF GEOMETRON, by which people who share this philosophy, who have the desire to build a world of freely replicating things entirely from trash and the living Earth can dedicate our lives to this task and scale up to all of humanity. This is the last chapter of the book.  

I'm skipping around in my readings at random, focusing on calls to action, to try to use the book as a catalyst for replicating the other elements of the set and getting more people to join and build and share.  

This chapter is a call to action, asking people to get involved in building the TRASH MAGIC network.

This was a recording I made to get into the right head space for what is next, which is more youtube videos showing how to use the software as a sort of operating system for trash magic.  

This episode ties it all together, how we are building a fully self-replicating media system, in which we build fabrication technology from trash which can build more fabrication technology from trash.  Fabrication technology is built using Geometron to geometrically program machines, making this FULL GEOMETRON.  It is also media which describes how to make more of itself also from trash which makes it full TRASH MAGIC.  We make an analogy with the structure of fungi as a life form, with code as spores, cardboard trash media as fruiting body, and web servers as mycelium, and invite our listeners to join our network of self-replicating media made from trash!

This is a relatively short chapter, but it's a core idea in all my work: geometric programming. Computers are machines which take numbers as instructions and then do things to number to make more numbers. We envision an alternative way to building machines in which machines read symbols and carry out geometric actions.  Rather than using numbers to do things to numbers we use geometry to do things to physical objects in space. 

This chapter is called "the people of the network".  As with the rest of these chapters, it's already out of date with my current thinking as to how this network will be implemented. But it has some ideas that I think are important and I do think gets across the general essence of what we're trying to build here. This is a network not of machines and code but of people and places.  Above all people! This chapter is a call to action for various people we hope will get involved in our network! Join us!

This chapter is entitled "organic media".  In a consumer society all media exists to stimulate consumption.  In a replication based society media replicates itself completely.  We aim to build media from trash which tells you how to build more media from trash, making fully self-replicating media from trash...trash magic!
