    Let's pick up where we left off in Episode 11 in our mini-series on the covenants of the Bible. Part 1 can be found HERE.

    In this mini-series, beginning today, we plan {Lord willing} to cover seven covenants of the Bible:
    1. Pre-Fall or Edenic Covenant ~ Episode 11
    2. Post-Fall or Adamic Covenant ~ Episode 11
    3. Noahic Covenant ~ Episode 11
    4. Abrahamic Covenant, which included 1- land, 2- Seed, 3-blessing {THIS EPISODE}
    5. Mosaic Covenant
    6. Davidic Covenant
    7. The New Covenant

    We think understanding these covenants helps us to not only see how God’s Word is connected as one Story, but it also allows us to see the attributes of God. In these covenants, we see His faithfulness, goodness, love, righteousness, and justice and how they all fit perfectly together.

    Lastly, these covenants help us to see how God wants a relationship with you and me. He doesn’t need us, but that’s what makes His love towards us even more significant!

    Both Amy and I thought it would be helpful to walk you through seven covenants of the Bible, beginning in Genesis. We’ve already talked about the Mosaic Covenant quite a bit in a couple of our episodes. Episode 5, Episode 7, Episode 8, and Episode 9 stick out in my memory as episodes that cover this covenant some.

    In this mini-series, beginning today, we plan {Lord willing} to cover all seven covenants of the Bible:

    1. Pre-Fall or Edenic Covenant ~ Episode 11 {this episode}
    2. Post-Fall or Adamic Covenant ~ Episode 11 {this episode}
    3. Noahic Covenant ~ Episode 11 {this episode}
    4. Abrahamic Covenant, which included 1- land, 2- Seed, 3-blessing
    5. Mosaic Covenant
    6. Davidic Covenant
    7. The New Covenant

  • Ep 10: The Promised Land Bible Reading Plan
    Feb 5 2026

    Welcome back to episode 10 of This Reading Mama’s podcast! Today, we’re walking you through our next Bible reading plan, which takes you through the Books of Joshua, Judges, and Ruth.

    We’re picking up where we left off in episode 5with the death of Moses and walking through the life of Joshua as the Israelites conquer and divide the promised land. We also cover the time of the judges and the judges cycle in this episode.

    We’re also giving you another resource to help you read the Bible this year! In episode 2 and episode 5, we shared our Bible reading plans for January and February. In this episode, we’re sharing our next reading plan for the 31 days of March. We're calling it, The Promised Land Bible Reading Plan.

    These reading plans are a GREAT place to start with reading the Bible. They're designed like a calendar so you know what to read each day. We've also included shorter passages of reading each day, so it's not as overwhelming. We think that these reading plans can help you understand that overarching storyline of the Bible.

  • Ep. 9 - Does the Old Testament Law Apply to Us Today?
    Jan 29 2026

    So, what's your answer? Does the Old Testament law apply to us today?

    Amy says, "No," while Becky says, "No...with a side of yes."

    Today, Amy and I are walking you through the three most important rules of understanding Scripture:
    1-context
    2-context
    3-context

    We're using one of the most plucked-right-out-of-context verses from the Old Testament, 2 Chronicles 7:14. I {Becky} would say that this verse is second only to Jeremiah 29:11 as being a verse people pull right from the passage to make it say what they'd like. Maybe we'll do an episode on that verse as well.

    Amy and I are introducing you to a tool, The Old Testament Triangle Diagram, that can help us see how the Old Testament law/verse may not apply DIRECTLY to us, but there are still truths about God and timeless principles that apply to us today, especially when they are repeated in the New Testament.

    Listen in to hear how we use context and this diagram to help us understand this passage more deeply and how it may or may not apply to us today. I pray that it is helpful for you!

  • Ep. 8: The Ultimate Purpose of the Old Testament Law
    Jan 22 2026

    Welcome back to episode 8 of This Reading Mama's podcast! Today, we're tackling the topic of the ultimate purpose of the Old Testament law.

    Believers in Christ might be tempted to look at the Old Testament and think it is so antiquated and obsolete that there isn't even a purpose in reading it. You wouldn't be correct, but you wouldn't be alone in this thinking.

    From early on in church history, people like Marcion were stating that the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament weren't the same God. Even today, we have mainstream preachers stating that we should "unhitch" from the Old Testament. {I won't mention any names, but the person who said this is the head of a church that rhymes with Zorth Zoint in Atlanta, GA. I bet you can't guess that one.}

    But there was a purpose in God's laws, and today, we're exploring that topic a bit.

    There were several reasons why God gave the Hebrews the Old Testament Law. Yes, He established a special relationship with them unlike any other nation. Yes, it was to set Israel apart from all the nations around them, to be a light to the nations. And yes, God was providing boundaries for the people to keep them safe.

    Amy and I would say there is an even better and ultimate purpose of the Old Testament, and this reason still relates to us today. Be sure to listen along!

  • Ep. 7: What is the Bible?
    Jan 15 2026

    You might read the Bible everyday, but do you know what it is? Do you know what "Bible" means or how many authors wrote the it? Do you know how the it is organized? Do you know what "testament" means?

    In today's quick episode, Amy and I talk about some of the Bible basics: its authorship, its inspiration, the Old Testament, the New Testament, and it is organized. {Hint: It's not in chronological order from Genesis to Revelation.} Although this episode is by no means exhaustive, I hope this episode will be helpful to you!

  • Ep. 6: Bible Literacy Survey
    Jan 8 2026

    In today’s episode, Amy and I are going over the answers to the Bible Literacy Survey I sent out to my email subscribers back in late November or early December.

    We literally used no script to create this episode, so I hope you’ll enjoy the candid moments, and realize that we’re ALL still learning more about God’s Word!

    On the survey that was sent out, we included 10 questions, 5 from the Old Testament and 5 from the New Testament to test your Bible knowledge. We received 230+ responses, and in today’s episode, we’ll go over all the answers.

    In this episode, we’ve also included TWO bonus or challenge questions, one from each of the testaments, so stay tuned to the end to hear those!

    Just a reminder that the printable Bible Literacy Survey AND reading plans are available to download if you are a Podcast+ Member!

  • Ep. 5: Days of Moses Bible Reading Plan
    Jan 1 2026

    Happy New Year and welcome back to This Reading Mama's podcast! {We are airing this episode on New Year's Day, but we did not record today.}

    We're walking through the life of Moses in this episode, picking up where we left off in episode 2 with Joseph and his family in Egypt. Starting at his birth, we will quickly walk through Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.*

    In this episode, we're giving you another resource to help you read the Bible this year. Back in episode 2, we shared our Beginnings Bible Reading Plan for January. Today, we're sharing our next reading plan for February, Moses Bible Reading Plan.

    Both of these reading plans are a GREAT place to start with reading the Bible. At the same time, they can help you begin to understand that overarching storyline of the Bible.

    Just a reminder that these printable reading plans are available to download if you are a Podcast+ Member! Join our Podcast+ Membership or login to your membership to download the transcript, guided notes, and study tools from each episode!

    If I had to guess, I'd say that this is where most people begin to drop off when reading the Bible through in a year.

    Genesis? No problem! Exodus. We're pretty good, right? Then comes Leviticus. Oh no!

    I hope this episode and Bible reading plan can help you stay on track this year to reading His Word every day. Amy and I would both emphatically say it's SO rewarding to be in His Word.

    Remember, if you're a Podcast+ Member, you can download and print guided notes templates to as you follow along! Just jot your notes, keep, and refer back to them anytime.

    *Three Quick Notes:
    -If you're watching on YouTube, a word was muted at 02:10 to comply with their rules.
    -Moses climbed Mount Sinai (not Moriah).
    -Enjoy the bloopers at the end. :)
