    A graduate of Howard University, Marcus Bird is a writer, filmmaker and musician. He has worked in the entertainment and marketing industry for the past fifteen years, helping to mastermind and architect campaigns for brands such as Red Stripe 'Suh Wi Dweet'(2023), Rum Stripe (2023), Smirnoff (Japan), Pepsi Jamaica, and others. Having traveled extensively and lived in the Caribbean, U.S and Japan, Marcus uses his unique lens to shape his creative work and vision. He is the author of the short story An Elephant in Kingston, which was shortlisted for the 2018 Commonwealth Short story Prize and was selected as the winner of the 2021 JCDC (Jamaican Cultural Development Commission) Adult Short Story Prize. He is also the 2nd place winner of the inaugural What’s Your Story Jamaica? story telling competition, held in 2021. He is the author of six books and his work has been featured in publications such as the Japan Times, Adda and the Jamaica Observer. He is a collaborating director on the 2012 film OnePeople: The Celebration, directed by Jamaica’s Justine Henzell and Dionne Walker. As a featured talent, he speaks in the film about his time as a Jamaican traveler and adventurer. Regarded as Jamaica’s first YouTube travel videographer, Marcus is know for his groundbreaking series Jamaican in Japan and Jamaican in Egypt, which he shot over 2009-2011, and aired in Jamaica on local television (Flow) in 2012. He has experience from highly competitive internships such as the Chris Rock Internship(Comedy Central, New York) and the Creative Minds In Cannes Program, (Cannes Film Festival, France) lead him to different horizons as a visual creative. He presently lives in Jamaica.
