The New York State Department of Education (NYSED) has released revised learning standards after years of controversy surrounding the roll out of the Common Core Learning Standards. Educators can make sure every student is on track for college and career readiness by providing a consistent set of expectations for all students. Colleges and universities have an important role to play in ensuring our future teachers are able to effectively implement these standards in their teaching and learning.This episode features an interview with Kenya Jackson-Damon, a lifelong educator and professor at Touro College. Additionally, we discussed how institutions can assist students who are suffering from mental health challenges by being upstanders rather than bystanders.
