    In this episode, Scott welcomes an old friend to the podcast - Sarah Uriarte Berry. Scott and Sarah did a production of "Grease" together and they had a great time reminiscing about the show and talking about her incredible career on Broadway, on tour, and what it was like being the very first Belle at The Disneyland Resort.


    Sarah Uriarte Berry made her Broadway debut as Eponine in "Les Miserables" and later reprised her role for the 10th Anniversary Production. She also starred as Belle in "Disney’s Beauty and the Beast" twice on Broadway: First at the Palace Theater, and 11 years later, paired with Donny Osmond at the Lunt-Fontanne.


    Also on Broadway, Sarah won critical acclaim as Franca in "The Light in the Piazza" at Lincoln Center Theater, where she received Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress.


    On tour, she played the role of Betty Schaefer in "Sunset Boulevard" with Petula Clark and the role of Julie Jordan in "Carousel" with Patrick Wilson. For "Carousel," she won an Ovation Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She also recently toured with "Disney Princess - The Concert."



    Other notable theatre credits include starring as Cinderella in "Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella" for the New York City Opera alongside Eartha Kitt, Nicola in "Taboo" opposite Boy George, "Next To Normal," "End Of The Rainbow," "A Little Night Music" at the Kennedy Center, soloist in Bernstein's Mass at Carnegie Hall, and "Sondheim on Sondheim" at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Vanessa Williams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Jonathan Groff.


    Sarah’s film appearances include roles in the feature film "Frontera" starring Ed Harris, Eva Longoria and Michael Peña, and "Pretty Bird" starring Billy Crudup. On television, Sarah’s appeared on "Law and Order - Criminal Intent," "Six Degrees," The Tony Awards, and can be seen as Saint Jellorica in the infamous Cats episode of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."

  • Michael Berresse

    Michael Berresse went straight from high school to performing at Disneyland, then at Walt Disney World, and then Tokyo Disneyland. From there, he moved to New York, where he’s appeared in over 7,000 performances of 11 Broadway shows.


    Michael made his Broadway debut in the 1990 revival of Fiddler on the Roof. He was nominated for a Tony and Olivier Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his work as Bill Calhoun in Kiss Me Kate. He also starred in Chicago (first as Fred Casely and later as Billy Flynn), Guys and Dolls, Carousel, Damn Yankees, The Light in the Piazza, the revival of A Chorus Line as Zach, and The Cher Show where he played the roles of Bob Mackie, Robert Altman, and Artie.


    Also on Broadway, Michael directed and choreographed the musical, [title of show], for which he was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award and a recipient of off-Broadway's Obie Award.


    On film, Michael stalked Russell Crowe in State of Play, rescued Haley Joel Osment in A.I. Artificial Intelligence directed by Steven Spielberg, and offed Albert Finney in The Bourne Legacy. He also appeared as himself in the documentary film Every Little Step, which follows the casting process of the production of A Chorus Line.


    He’s also fallen into the orchestra pit on Broadway…twice…and, of course, Michael and Scott talk about that.

    Gene Columbus is a living legend. He's also a dancer, director, producer, production manager, author, mentor, and an incredible storyteller. Scott spent a couple of hours interviewing Gene and every moment with him was a magical one.


    Gene began his performing career working in motion pictures, television, and live stage productions. In 1970 he joined the Disney management team and traveled around the world with a large-scale stage arena production of “Disney On Parade.” In 1977 he accepted a position in Orlando, Florida as Manager of Entertainment in the Magic Kingdom.


    Gene spent nearly four decades in many leadership roles with the Walt Disney Company, managing various departments and taking part in the production of shows, ceremonies, and events for Walt Disney World. He also wrote, directed, cast, produced, managed and performed for numerous productions. He also served as a mentor to thousands of entertainment professionals, many of whom became key leaders within Disney Entertainment.


    Gene wrote two books - “Leadership Lessons Learned Being Next To Goofy" and “The Complete Guide to Careers in Special Events.” Both of these books can be purchased on Amazon.


    Oh, and this is no big deal...Gene also met Walt Disney…and you better believe that they about that!
