Summary

This Podcast is all about helping humans think in ways that is empowering. Empowered humans, empower humans and our goal at Empowered in My Skin is to help develop one billion humans who are lead dominos for empowerment. Regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, etc., everyone deserves to be empowered in the skin that they are in. Empowered humans are thriving humans. It is our birthright to thrive. When we own our thrive, we are operating from a position of empowerment, and celebrating life in the present moment without fear. It is human nature to feel uncertain, but why does it have to take us away from our thrive, our creativity, and throw us off balance? If we can recognize that being empowered is us choosing to accept all that is, then we have the ability to step into clarity and live in the present moment. Our "now" is all that we have and where our infinite empowered energy resides. • Alvin Brown: Don’t Just Get Through It – Get From It
    Apr 30 2026

What if life’s hardest seasons weren’t meant to break you, but to prepare you?

In this powerful episode, Alvin Brown joins Nkechi for a deeply personal conversation about discipline, resilience, grief, and the seasons of life. Drawing from his journey as an athlete, coach, and father, Alvin shares how preparation during life’s “summer” moments helps us navigate life’s winters with strength and clarity.

Through stories of loss, growth, and legacy, Alvin reminds us that challenges are not just something to survive. They are opportunities to learn, grow, and turn pain into purpose.

This conversation will inspire you to stop just getting through life and start getting from it.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Life happens in seasons, and while we cannot avoid winter, we can prepare for it. The habits, relationships, and discipline we build during life’s good seasons are what carry us through the difficult ones.
    • Every challenge carries a lesson, but growth only happens when we choose to reflect instead of react. Don’t just get through hard moments, take the time to learn what they are trying to teach you.
    • Grief and hardship become heavier when regret is present. Living intentionally, showing up fully for the people we love, and making the most of today helps lighten the emotional weight of tomorrow.
    • Structure creates stability. Whether in your health, your relationships, or your work, the systems you build determine the results you experience when pressure arrives.
    • Pain can be transformed into purpose. Even life’s deepest losses can become a source of meaning and legacy when we choose to carry forward the lessons and impact of those experiences.
