  • 062: Freedom House Ambulance Service
    Jun 17 2026

John Moon is a retired Paramedic who worked for Freedom House Ambulance Service. Ran out of Hill District in Pittsburg Pennsylvania, this team of amazing black paramedics created EMS how we know it today. From the designs of the interior and exterior of the ambulance, to performing the first out-of-hospital intubation and everything in between.

John Moon learned from two of the best educators and physicians; Dr. Peter Safar who was an Austrian Anesthesiologist who basically invested CPR. Also Dr. Nancy Caroline who you may know as the author of several text books that we still use today. Because of these two, as well as the amazing heroes from Freedom House Ambulance Service, EMS is able to provide top of the line medical service today, not only in the United States, but around the world as well.

John shares the story of Freedom House, the story that we all should have been taught in EMT and Paramedic School. He also gives us a look at life growing up and how he found his way into the medical field during a time of racism and segregation. John's mission is also our mission; to share this story so that all EMTs and Paramedics around the world understand where EMS came from, and why it's important to remember these brave souls whenever we respond to an emergency. It's because of them, our loved ones can receive the best treatment possible before stepping foot into the Emergency Room.

We ask that you PLEASE share this story and leave us a review. Because of viewers and listeners like you, we are able to bring amazing guests to this show, and we'd like to continue doing that in the future.

  • 061: Faith. Duty. Redemption
    May 20 2026

Most veterans and first responders try to tough out their trauma in silence—until one man’s raw journey reveals the power of faith, vulnerability, and real healing. Keith Cole, a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran, lifetime warrior, and author, shares how the unseen wounds of war finally began to heal when he surrendered to God's recovery plan.
In this episode, Keith takes us from the chaos of battlefield injuries—shot three times, battling invisible PTSD, and the scars of loss—to discovering the transformative strength of a spiritual connection. You'll discover how his faith became the anchor that pulled him out of despair, understanding that healing isn’t about ignoring trauma but confronting it with scripture, discipline, and community. We break down his eight-element recovery framework rooted in God’s Word, designed to help anyone struggling—veterans, first responders, or anyone feeling overwhelmed—to find hope and purpose again.
We delve into Keith’s powerful stories: the night his tank was hit, the long road home, and the moment he finally let go of his rebellion and pain. His honesty about mental health—how he ignored his nightmares, the costly pride that kept him silent—resonates deeply. His journey shows us that toughness isn’t enough; asking for help and trusting in Jesus is the ultimate act of strength.
If you’re tired of suffering alone, or know someone drowning in unseen wounds, this episode is your wake-up call. Keith’s message is clear—recovery starts with the first step: honesty, faith, and community. Perfect for veterans, first responders, and anyone seeking a tangible path out of burnout and brokenness.
Are you ready to face your pain with courage and faith? Don’t wait—listen now and embrace the healing that’s waiting for you. Your renewal begins today.
