  • Ep 29: Nan Madol: The City Built in the Ocean
    Aug 8 2026

Far out in the Pacific, along the remote island of Pohnpei, dark basalt walls rise directly from tidal channels and mangrove-covered reefs.

Nan Madol is a city unlike almost any other: nearly one hundred artificial islets connected by canals, surrounded by massive stone structures assembled from volcanic columns weighing several tons each. Once the ceremonial and political center of the Saudeleur Dynasty, its ruins still inspire questions about how it was built, why this location was chosen, and what life must have felt like inside a city that incorporated the sea into its streets.

Local legends tell of two sorcerer brothers who transported the enormous stones through the air using magic—an explanation born from an accomplishment so extraordinary that ordinary human labor seemed insufficient.

Tonight, Tavern Reflections travels through Nan Madol’s flooded passageways, royal tombs, abandoned ceremonial compounds, and enduring legends. We examine the mystery without pretending that mystery means ignorance—and consider what happens when the ocean becomes the final resident of a once-powerful city.

The rulers vanished. The dynasty became memory. The jungle and tides remained.

Pull up a chair, pour yourself something warm, and join us as we visit Nan Madol: The City Built in the Ocean.

  • Ep 28: The Last Radio Station on Earth
    Aug 1 2026

The world has gone quiet. Cities stand empty, highways lead nowhere, and most radio frequencies carry nothing but static.

Then, at precisely midnight, a voice begins broadcasting from Station K-END.

    Warm. Calm. Familiar.

The problem is that nobody should be alive to send it.

In this fictional episode of Tavern Reflections, a lone traveler named Jonah follows an impossible radio signal across a silent desert. At the end of the transmission lies an abandoned station, an empty broadcast studio, and a voice that has continued speaking long after its owner died.

What begins as a mystery becomes a reflection on loneliness, purpose, memory, and the strange ways our words can survive us.

    In this episode:

    • A radio signal broadcasting after the end of civilization
    • Jonah’s journey across an empty desert
    • The mystery behind Station K-END
    • Why voices can become companionship
    • The lasting value of stories, recordings, and creative work

  • Ep 27: Zealandia - The Lost Continent Beneath the Sea
    Jul 28 2026

Beneath the waters of the South Pacific lies a continent larger than India—complete with mountains, valleys, ancient rock, and the remains of landscapes that once stood beneath open sky.

Its name is Zealandia, and roughly ninety-four percent of it is underwater.

In this episode of Tavern Reflections, Travis explores the geology, history, and quiet mystery of a continent most people were never taught about. Unlike Atlantis, Zealandia is not legend. Scientists have mapped it, studied it, and recognized it as a genuine continental landmass.

We examine how tectonic forces slowly stretched and thinned the continent until most of it disappeared beneath the Pacific, leaving New Zealand, New Caledonia, and scattered islands as the visible peaks of a drowned world.

Zealandia also leaves us with a larger question: how much of our world remains unnoticed simply because it exists beyond the limits of our attention?

    In this episode:

    • Why Zealandia qualifies as a continent
    • How nearly the entire landmass sank beneath the ocean
    • The ancient mountains, valleys, and geological systems hidden below
    • Why discovery often begins after something has been found
    • What Zealandia teaches us about change, certainty, and wonder

    Tavern Question
