Gentrification is changing the history and culture of Toronto Black communities like Little Jamaica . The situation requires attention because of new developments and transit routes like the Eglinton Crosstown LRT that has recently opened after a lengthy period of construction work. Due to gentrification, the neighborhood's African and Caribbean community are experiencing increased threats from rising costs, business shutdowns and loss of cultural heritage. By talking to someone from the community, we discover solutions through community-based approaches which include community land trusts, equitable development initiatives, and cultural heritage protection programs.
