  • S2:Episode 4 - Don't Open Your Mouth: How I Found My Voice Anyway
    Jul 6 2026

What happens when one painful sentence stays with you for years?

In this solo episode of Still Finding My Voice, Lynne Street shares a deeply personal story from 1993, when she was President of the Ladies Comedy Club of Hollywood and someone told her, “You’re a great dancer. Just don’t open your mouth.”

That sentence landed hard. As a professional dancer, Lynne was used to being seen, applauded, and understood through movement. But speaking? Sharing her thoughts? Using her voice? That felt much more vulnerable.

Years later, the woman who was told not to open her mouth started a podcast.

In this episode, Lynne reflects on how painful words can shape us, but they do not have to define us. She shares how shame, self-doubt, perfectionism, fear, and hiding can keep women quiet — especially in seasons of transition, reinvention, or starting over.

Lynne also introduces her VOICE Method™ as a framework for healing, courage, and becoming:

    V — View & Validate what happened

    O — Open to a new possibility

I — Integrate all parts of who you are

C — Choose Courage, even when your voice shakes

E — Embrace the woman you are today

This episode is for the woman who has ever been told she was too much, not enough, too late, too awkward, too emotional, or not qualified. It is for the woman who has been clapping for everyone else and quietly wondering if she still has something inside of her too.

Your voice does not have to be perfect to matter. Your story does not have to be polished to be powerful. And someone else’s sentence is not your life’s assignment.

If you have been waiting for permission to speak, share, begin, or show up — this is your reminder.

Open your mouth. Tell your story. Take up space. Use your voice.

Because it was never meant to stay hidden.
