  • Xabi Alonso to Chelsea, Man City's FA Cup win and Celtic's dramatic title
    May 17 2026

It felt like a weekend of broken hearts all around football, but Musa and Ryan begin with Manchester City’s win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final (02:12), to secure a domestic cup double and Pep Guardiola’s 20th trophy as City boss.

Chelsea were quick to counter the disappointment, as it was announced that Xabi Alonso will take over as manager in the summer (12:39) and that’s where the bulk of today’s show is focussed.

There’s enough time to chat about Celtic’s late win over Hearts (31:34), to secure their 14th title in 15 years in dramatic fashion, as well as a few other shoutouts.

Also, Musa did a new piece for the Kickback Soccer newsletter, which you can read here, and tickets for our July live show, with Nish Kumar at the Southbank Centre, are available here.

  • Florentino Pérez: not leavin' (clip)
    May 15 2026

Here's a clip from yesterday's Patreon episode, where Musa and Ryan discussed Florentino Pérez's wild press conference earlier this week, where he basically said that he wasn’t f***ing leaving. He then declared himself the best president of all time, went on the attack about named and unnamed enemies, dished out insults, sexism and a whole lot of paranoia.

  • Barça's La Liga win, Premier League drama and Venezia’s parade
    May 11 2026

A fairly quiet Sunday then, with nothing too eventful happening in the Premier League.

Musa and Ryan begin with a quick chat about Arsenal’s 1-0 win over West Ham (03:52) at the London Stadium, which had a big impact at the top and bottom of the table. Yes, they also chat about that decision, but probably less than it’s been discussed elsewhere.

They then head onto the main topic, which is Barcelona’s 2-0 win in the Clásico (16:20), to secure a successive La Liga title and to make a very difficult Real Madrid week even worse. They praise the job Hansi Flick has done at Barça, as well as the players who have brought the club out of one of the most chaotic periods of its recent history. There’s also a bit about what on earth is going on at Real Madrid.

Finally, Venezia won Serie B this weekend (50:21), thanks to a 2-0 win over Palermo on Friday. Ryan was there, as well as at the incredible title parade on the Grand Canal on Saturday, so there’s some chat about one of the most unique spectacles in European football.
