After a successful debut at Vice Seattle, the following week I started making my move to Portland. Wednesdays and Thursdays were my days off during my summer job at Enterprise, so a visit to Open Decks at House Wednesdays with Shay Baca was definitely in order. Before the main House Wednesday lineup starts, Open Decks are held for the first two hours, and occasionally I get to do a set. In Season Two, I'll bring you a video set I did back in February—I'm thinking about uploading the video itself or extracting the audio. I like open decks because it allows me to experiment with music—either tracks that have worked well in previous sets or something new I’d like to test live. During the summer of 2025, while working a full-time job at Enterprise at SeaTac, I still kept my ear to the ground with music. It was the first job in 22 years that didn't involve a DJ booth. I had a 60-to-90-minute commute to work via bus, light rail, or the West Seattle ferry, and I always listened to music en route. That Friday-to-Tuesday schedule mirrors Dizz Global Radio now, and on my days off, I'd work on the few mixes I put out. This is another open decks set, recorded at Ora Nightclub on May 31st—my 23rd DJ anniversary. Thank you for lending me your ears and for your continued support as we take a dive into some techno!

It's been a few months since I did a live set in Portland, but a few weeks ago, I stepped out of the studio and behind the decks for Bounce Thursdays at Que Dicee. Shoutout to Logic and the crew! I decided to play a freestyle set based on some of the music from the #new52mixshow and some of my older sets. It's always nice to read the crowd and keep your USB stacked with various types of music. This is where my 20 years of experience working in gentlemen's clubs pays off with my open-format style. As Season One comes to a close on 206 Sessions, I leave you with a special Open Decks episode at Mira in Bellevue. I've been to a few shows there with my homies Fame Sounds and DJ Amp in the lineup, and it's a great venue. Back in February of 2025, they had an open decks night and I opted to go up first. I made sure to record my set. One of the most important things about an open decks session is giving tracks a try to see how they work in a live setting or just getting a feel for the room. In Season Two of The 206 Sessions, we will get into the things that have shaped the sound of the wonderful Seattle community and nightlife. Mixtape Monday is my longest running mixshow in the #new52mixshow universe. Much like Sunday Funday, it started as a mixtape mini-series in 2016, and I restarted the series in 2017 and continued from there. Over the years there have been a few starts and stops with the pandemic and my work schedule, but now I can confidently say Mixtape Monday will be coming at you every Monday on Podomatic and Apple Podcasts (and coming back to Mixcloud late this summer).
