About this listen

Soakin' in the 70's

Each week brothers Jeff and Scott Christensen address the question, "Was the 70's the best decade for music?" It's always a lively and engaging dialogue with each brother bringing a different and unique perspective. Tune in to hear some opinions and great music.

In any week you might hear a deep dive on a band/artist (such as Eric Clapton). Or a discussion of a style of music (Yacht Rock). Or maybe a discussion on who should be (or shouldn't be) in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Plus-each episode highlights a 70's song from a One Hit Wonder and a movie soundtrack.

Jeff's perspective comes from that of a semi-pro musician, i.e. someone who gets paid to play...sometimes. He's started playing sax in the 70's and harmonica in the 90's and has played in bands ever since -- lot's of 70's music -- they even let him sing once in a while. As a denizen of the local open jam scene, Jeff is constantly playing with a variety of musicians and styles. He combines this perspective with the desire to pin down what makes a song good and then he molds it into a well formed, yet somehow dubious, opinion. He awaits your reaction from western Chicagoland - go ahead, email him at jeff@soakininthe70s.com.

Scott's musical claim to fame is he worked in a record store in the 70's and wrote record reviews for his high school newspaper. Okay... not so impressive. He read every Rolling Stone and Circus magazine cover to cover in the 70's. Also, not impressive. But he did win over $50,000 in 70's Music Jeopardy. (That's a lie.) In all seriousness, Scott is a retired financial planner who loves rock music and has many opinions about it. He resides in New Hampshire. He would love to hear from you at scott@soakininthe70s.com.
