When I was recording this episode, it was perfect happenstance that I heard people mention a few specific things regarding building a business. In this episode, we'll dissect each of those issues.

Most people do one of two things: they immediately jump at the chance, or they avoid working with friends and family like the plague. Ultimately, you'll have to answer this question yourself, but in this episode, I give a list of pros and cons that will help you decide if it seems like a good idea for you.

With my own real-life examples —good and bad—, my goal is to give you the tools to help you make a prudent decision about whether or not it's a good idea to have your mom as a client. (Hint: my dad has been one of my best clients ever!)

There's something I need to clarify from the last episode.

Let's get something straight: you do not have to do anything for free. If you're working, you can—and should—be compensated for your time. This is a rule of thumb we should live by, and you'll hear me mention this in the episode.

And—and that's a big AND—there may be some opportunities especially in the beginning or at other pertinent times as you build your business where doing some work for free could happen to be beneficial.
