  • Mary Magdalene: Myrrhbearer and Equal of the Apostles
    Jul 22 2026
Today we remember Mary Magdalene, a woman from the small city of Magdala on the shores of Lake Genesareth. Once troubled and healed by Christ, she became a devoted follower and supporter of Jesus during His ministry. Mary Magdalene stood faithfully by Christ through His crucifixion and burial. She was the first to witness the Resurrection and was sent to share this joyful news with the Apostles, earning her the title Equal of the Apostles.

  • Venerable Simeon of Emessa the Fool-For-Christ and His Fellow Ascetic John
    Jul 21 2026
Today we remember Venerable Simeon of Emessa, known as a Fool-for-Christ, and his close companion, Venerable John. Both were sixth-century Syrians from Edessa who devoted their lives to monasticism and ascetic struggle. Their journey began with a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and led them to desert monasteries where they embraced a life of prayer, fasting, and spiritual struggle. Simeon later chose to serve others through humility and foolishness for Christ, while John remained in the desert until his death.

  • Remembering Righteous Martyr Maria Skobtsova
    Jul 20 2026
Today we remember Righteous Martyr Maria Skobtsova, a woman whose life journey took her from early doubts and atheism to deep faith and selfless service. Born Elizaveta Pilenko in 1891, she devoted herself to helping the poor and persecuted, especially during the dark days of World War II. Mother Maria’s courage and compassion led her to shelter many in need, including Jews during the Nazi occupation of France. She was arrested and sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp, where she endured great suffering and ultimately gave her life on Holy Saturday, 1945.
