Root Duty is where I share honest reflections from a life that's still being shaped. I'm not an expert with all the answers. I'm someone trying to grow, make sense of the journey, and faithfully use what I've been given. Through stories and lessons from everyday life, I explore growth, self-awareness, purpose, and what it takes to pursue something meaningful. If you've ever felt unsure, stretched by the process, or discouraged by the pace, you're not alone. Maybe we'll figure some of it out together.Elooghene Personal Development Personal Success

  • Talent Isn't Enough: What Grit Teaches Us About Success
    Jun 11 2026

I recently read Grit by Angela Duckworth, and it got me thinking about the relationship between talent, effort, and success.

We often admire people who seem naturally gifted, but one of the book's central ideas is that talent alone is never enough. What we do with our abilities, and our willingness to keep showing up when progress is slow, matters far more than where we start.

In this episode, I share some of the lessons that stood out to me from Grit, including the role of perseverance, resilience, and sustained effort and the importance of hard-work in achieving meaningful goals.

If you've ever felt discouraged by slow progress or wondered whether your efforts are making a difference, I hope this conversation reminds you that growth is rarely dramatic. More often, it's the result of consistent effort over time.

  • What I Learned from Building Beyond You by Tara Fela-Durotoye
    Jun 4 2026

In this episode, I share some of my thoughts on Building Beyond You by Tara Fela-Durotoye.

One of the things I kept thinking while reading this book was that it felt like it was written to be useful. Not just inspirational, not just a founder telling her story, but someone genuinely trying to pass on what they've learned to people coming behind them.

I talk about some of the lessons that stood out to me, the ideas I'm still thinking about, and what the book taught me about building businesses that are designed to last.

I don't cover every lesson from the book. My goal is simply to share what resonated with me and hopefully give you enough context to decide whether it's a book you'd like to read for yourself.

  • What I Learned from The Art of Spending Money
    May 29 2026

In this episode, I review The Art of Spending Money by Morgan Housel and share some of the lessons that stood out to me most.

This is not a complete breakdown of the book. Instead, it’s a reflection on a few ideas that challenged the way I think about money, spending, value, and decision-making. My hope is that this episode gives you enough insight and curiosity to go read the book for yourself and draw your own lessons from it.

If you’ve ever wondered why we spend the way we do, or what it means to use money more intentionally, this conversation is for you.
