Le jazz est entré dans la vie de Marie Cheval, à 13 ans, lorsqu’elle a découvert d’la partition du Misty d’Erroll Garner, lors d’un séjour linguistique en Allemagne. Un moment qui a immédiatement ouvert ses perspectives musicales. Aujourd’hui à la tête de Carmila, elle ne conçoit pas la vie sans musique. Il y a le piano qu’elle pratique une à deux fois par semaine, et son écoute quotidienne, allant de l’opéra à Michel Petrucciani, Melody Gardot ou Grégory Privat. Sa composition Le Bonheur tourne d’ailleurs en boucle dans sa playlist, comme elle l’explique au micro de Philippe Heim.
