In this episode of Revive and Thrive, I’m joined by parenting coach Kate Child for a really honest and relatable conversation about parenting, overwhelm, reactivity, guilt, and the pressure so many parents put on themselves to get everything right.

Kate works with parents who are feeling overstimulated, exhausted and stuck in that gap between the parent they want to be and how they actually show up on the difficult days. Her approach is all about nervous system first, strategies second, because as we talk about in this episode, it’s one thing knowing what you “should” do as a parent, but it’s very different trying to access that advice when you’re stressed, depleted and running on empty.

We talk about why children often fall apart when they get home from school or nursery, why dinner time, bath time and bedtime can feel like such a battle, and how our own stress, triggers and patterns can impact the way we respond to our children.

Kate also shares her STATE method, which helps parents understand what’s happening underneath the reactions, build more awareness around their nervous system, and create lasting change rather than just relying on quick tips and scripts.

This episode is for any parent who loves their children deeply but sometimes finds themselves snapping, shutting down, saying no automatically, or lying in bed at night feeling guilty and wondering why they reacted the way they did.

It’s not about being a perfect parent. It’s about understanding yourself, creating more capacity, and starting with small, realistic steps that help you feel calmer, more connected and more present with your children.
