Who would have thought that there would be NO live sport anywhere in the world in 2020? As leagues in all codes across the world struggle to find a pathway to resume, there was one man who stood up as a true leader and brought his sport back to life before all was lost.
Justin Nelson, GM of the National Basketball League in New Zealand, gathered his remarkable team together and started hatching a plan to save the 2020 season and potentially the entire League itself. It's just 24 hours to tip off and we caught up with Justin in a very grateful and reflective mood.
The Sal's National Basketball League is about to embark on a 6 week season, with 7 teams, 84 players and 56 games, all of which are being televised in prime time on Sky Sports across NZ and globally via an innovative pay per view deal with the Trained By Miyagi platform.
