In this Climate Chat episode, host Dan Miller interviews atmospheric scientist Dr. Matthew S. Johnson on his critical work to find ways to eradicate methane from point sources such as a cow barn, as well as from the atmosphere. Matthew S. Johnson, PhD is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen. He has a Bachelor in Chemistry from Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology for work on laser spectroscopy of solvated ions in a molecular beam. He received a Fulbright Fellowship to work at the MAX-Lab Synchrotron in Lund Sweden on spectroscopy related to stratospheric ozone depletion. He is coauthor of 134 peer-reviewed publications in atmospheric chemistry, kinetics and spectroscopy, 12 patents and the textbook Chemistry and the Environment published by Cambridge University Press. He has founded and/or worked with multiple startup companies including Infuser, Airlabs, Airscape, Rensair, Sterisafe, Devlabs and Ambient Carbon.
