  • Opa! This Episode's Not Inappropriate (My Big Fat Greek Wedding)
    Jun 24 2026

This week, our hosts are breaking LAFS' cardinal rule—they've both seen the movie before...and there's no guest!! To be fair, it was difficult to locate someone who hadn't seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). Starring and written by Nia Vardalos, and featuring Michael Constantine, John Corbett, and Andrea Martin, this crowd-pleasing flick has so much to offer: attainable character professions, dermatological life hacks, and a romantic male lead who truly feels like he was written by a woman (well, he was). Madison and Chelsea have long argued whether or not this film is a rom com; this time they'll have to definitively (if not reluctantly) decide its status.

    About the Show

An examination of classic tropes and iconic characters pits connoisseur against cynic—one romantic comedy at a time. The cinematic world of love and laughter had rom-com enthusiast Madison head over heels from the time Harry met Sally. For genre skeptic Chelsea, however, it’s been a grueling enemies-to-lovers plot. In Love at First Screening, Madison introduces Chelsea to all the fan-favorite love stories she’s never wanted to watch. One friend’s passion might be the other’s displeasure, but doesn’t love conquer all? Tune in every other Wednesday to find out.

  • Hi Gay, Happy Pride (A Nice Indian Boy)
    Jun 11 2026

Hi, Gay! Happy Pride! (Please get our Meg Stalter reference or this is going to be a very awkward intro.)

This week on LAFS, Chelsea takes back the reigns to bring us a heartwarming, queer romantic comedy, A Nice Indian Boy. This film will fill your heart with joy, show you a complex yet rewarding family dynamic, and maybe even save your movie night. Listen as our hosts discuss the multiple layers this film grapples with, using various food metaphors for some unknown reason. Chelsea shares amazing insights about navigating interpersonal relationships with those not acquainted with queer culture while Mads compares watching Out TV to understand your gay son to watching HGTV to understand Jesus. That's nearly a verbatim quote.

  • Africa Has No Hospitals, Only Toned Men and Toucans (George of the Jungle)
    May 27 2026

This week, our smart, beautiful, funny, kind, and all-around spectacular social media manager, Marissa, swings in on a vine (or maybe just sent a text) to demand our hosts watch the 1997 campy comedy George of the Jungle, and determine once and for all whether it's a Rom-Com. How could they refuse? Mads begins skeptical of this feel-good film, but boy is she living for a young, ripped Brendan Fraser who's been lubed to the gods with enough body oil to cause a fire hazard. Meanwhile, Chelsea laments that her own adventures in the jungle, while certainly fruit-full, did not include a single toucan appearance. From the film's practical effects to its breaking of the fourth wall and cheeky narration, this (romantic?) comedy is full of surprises.

  • Dump Josh (Imagine Me and You)
    May 13 2026

This week's movie is hand-picked by our resident genre-skeptic, Chelsea, to save this season and restore the reputation of the podcast--proving once and for all that we do, in fact, watch romantic comedies. Through the power of self-discovery and sapphic love, Chelsea introduces Madison to the fabulous film, Imagine Me and You. This Cynic's Choice makes Madison question her and Chelsea's friendship because how did it take 7 seasons for Chelsea to introduce this movie? Listen for the great wisdom of kissing your married friends and breaking up with your shitty boyfriend, Josh, and stay for the magic of a great early aughts romantic comedy. Seriously, though. Break up with Josh and date a florist.

  • Mads' Mouth Is Only for Communion (People We Meet on Vacation)
    Apr 15 2026

This week, our hosts embark on a few holiday hijinks wrapped up in some beloved rom-com tropes with People We Meet on Vacation (2026). After Madison attempts to soft-launch a new horticulture podcast and hard-launch a war with her local stink bug population, Chelsea reveals that this movie did not, in fact, suck like she thought it would. (It was foolish to have ever doubted Emily Henry IP.) And while Mads sorts through her feelings on this page-to-screen adaptation, Chelsea contemplates whether anyone actually sells condoms in bulk or if that's just a fun filmmakers' gag. Starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, with an unforgettable Molly Shannon cameo, this film has 2026 jet-setting off to a fantastic start for our hosts. (Yeah, yeah, we know it's April now, but for the Mads and Chels recording this, it's only January.)

  • The 100th Episode Spectacular
    Apr 2 2026

Take a jaunt down memory lane with our hosts as they meander through the previous 99 episodes of this show and discuss the hot or not of what Madison has made Chelsea endure. Find out what movie was the crowd favorite in the March Madness bracket and listen as Chelsea makes Madison choose between her favorites, Madison makes Chelsea pick from the worst of the worst, and everyone is forced to pick their lesbians of choice.

If we are honest, never did we think we would get this far in the show. It started out as (and remains) a hobby and creative venture between two friends that were blessed to meet in college and we are grateful that not only have we stuck with it, but that anyone at all decides to listen. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for letting us continue to discuss all the rom coms you love, love to hate, and everything in between. Until next time, XOXO.

  • Pedro Pascal Could Fly a Helicopter (Materialists)
    Feb 11 2026

This week, our hosts find reasonable parking rates at the intersection of love and money with Materialists (2025). Not everyone has realistic expectations when it comes to finding a good match, but Madison doesn't think it's too much to ask for a film's trailer to match its tone. Chelsea wholeheartedly believes people as rich as Pedro Pascal was in this flick should invest in some art for their cement walls, or at least an interior decorator. Starring Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans, this quest for love among New York's elite asks us to consider each of our values...and pray we're not morally bankrupt.Connect With Us

  • Cocaine Rollerskates (Xanadu)
    Jan 28 2026

Brought to you by the butts of the Town and Country security guards, Chelsea's most baffling experience of the season: Xanadu (1980). This beautifully rendered 80's roller disco fever dream skated its way into Madison's heart and melted Chelsea's brain in the process. What was the plot? What was that Ferngully-styled animated love montage? Why is Gene Kelly on skates? None of this gets answered! You'll love it, we promise. The soundtrack is incredible and the visuals were cutting edge. Were.
