Saul was in hearty agreement with the murder of Stephen (Acts 8:1). After the murder of Stephen, Saul breathed threats and murder against the disciples of Jesus (Acts 9:1). He went to the high priest and asked for letters to the synagogues of Damascus to bind any man or woman who preached the word of God and bring them to Jerusalem. While he was approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,

Acts 9:4,5 – “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “”Who are You, Lord?” And He said, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting, but get up and enter the city, and it will be told you what you must do” അവൻ നിലത്തുവീണു; ശൌലേ, ശൌലേ, നീഎന്നെഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്നതുഎന്തുഎന്നുതന്നോടുപറയുന്നഒരുശബ്ദംകേട്ടു. നീആരാകുന്നു, കർത്താവേ, എന്നുഅവൻ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: നീഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്നയേശുആകുന്നുഞാൻ.

The following two Bible verses show the two opposite characters of King Solomon.

1st Kings 10:23 – “So King Solomon became greater than all he kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.”

1st Kings 11:6 – “ Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not follow the Lord fully, as David his father had done.”

King Solomon inherited the kingdom from his father David. God blessed Solomon in many ways by giving wisdom, riches, power and fame. When we analyze the Scriptures, it is noticeable that he achieved innumerable successes during his reign when he held on to God and performed his duties as a king as per the instruction of God. Whenever he deviated from God and did things to please false gods, his failures multiplied. This is a lesson for all.

John 7:39 – Jesus clarifies what He means by the living water.

The living water, Jesus offers, is the Holy spirit, given to those who believe in Him. Before His crucifixion, resurrection and ascension, Jesus was not glorified to release the Holy Spirit. It was possible only after His ascension. When the Holy spirit comes within a person, it overflows like water. The Holy Spirit that overflows is living water which can bear fruits in other people. The Holy spirit is the rain of Heaven, and He is the living river that flows from within.

St. Stephen is recognized as the first Christian martyr who was stoned to death about two years after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. His boldness to preach the gospel led to his arrest and the subsequent stoning. He was a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit. He was falsely charged with saying blasphemy against Jesus and Moses. The last moments of his death resembles the death of Jesus. There is glory associated with his life and death. Stephen’s death should give inspiration to all Christians in times of suffering.

We are created to live in glory like God

Psalm 8:5 – “Yet you have made him a little lower than God, and You crown him with glory and majesty.” നീ അവനെ ദൈവത്തെക്കാൾ അല്പം മാത്രം താഴ്ത്തി, തേജസ്സും ബഹുമാനവും അവനെ അണിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Man is made a little lower than God and crowned with glory and dignity. God gave man power over everything in the world and allowed him to rule over it. The entire creation of God is called to glorify God in their own way and in their own capacity, including heaven, earth, ocean, trees and animals. There is no doubt that God wants it that way because it is repeatedly said in the Bible, and we see with our eyes. By doing their duties in the proper way, they glorify God. The question is, “Are the humans glorifying God properly?”

Throughout the Bible we can notice that God has elevated several people who were sinners, and that their names are recorded in the Bible forever. Mary Magdeline is one of those sinners elevated by God. Her name is mentioned twelve times in the Bible. All the four gospels mention the presence of Mary Magdaline on important occasions. Mary Magdalene became a devoted follower of Jesus whose life was radically transformed when Jesus healed her from seven demons. She became grateful and loyal to Jesus, and she supported His ministry.

These verses show the creative power of God and the absolute control of God on everything. God did not destroy the darkness, but God separated the light from the darkness because He found that the light was good. We are called to the light because the light is good. If anyone is in darkness or associated with darkness, God expects that person to leave the darkness and come to the light. The implications of separating from darkness are many according to the Scriptures. Living worldly and living in evil, sin, chaos and ignorance about God is our darkness. We are created to live in the light forever and to be a light for the world just like Jesus is the Light of the world.

Matthew 15:21-28 – The Canaanite woman’s faith

Prayer and faith should go hand in hand. Lots of people pray as a routine without enough faith. Some people have faith, but they give up prayer after some time. The Canaanite woman is an exception. She was not a Jewish or Christian person. She was a gentile woman who did not know anything about God. Jesus was in the district of Tyre and Sidon where gentiles lived. Because she had heard about the healing works of Jesus, she came to Him for the healing of her daughter, who was cruelly demon-possessed. She faced a tough reaction from the disciples and Jesus, but because of her persistent request, Jesus healed her daughter.
