If your marriage will succeed, you need God in it. A marriage is not a child’s play so it anyone that wants to venture into it must be careful and ready for the challenges that lies ahead. Before venturing into marriage, you need to invest in yourself. Get a job or learn a skill. Have a vision, find something profitable to do before you get married. A marriage is a salary paid by God, this means that you also need to serve God with all your heart. So you can be rewarded when you get married.

Marriage is the first institution created by God and it has been in existence since then. However, it is quite unfortunate that not all marriages last long due to certain reasons. However, Pastor Funke Adejumo explains the five stages a marriage will pass through. They are:

1. The Honeymoon Stage

According to her, this is the I love you stage. It happens immediately after the wedding and couples are still very fond of themselves. They enjoy each other’s company and are yet to see fault in their characters.

2. The Normal Life Stage

She said that this comes after the wedding and every marriage goes through it. They then begin to see different faults in their behaviors. The wife notices that her husband snores at night and the husband notices that his wife is not as neat and tidy as he thinks. He sees someone different when she removes her wigs

3. Criticism Stage

At this stage, couples try to criticize everything they noticed at the Normal Life Stage. The man complains about salt and pepper harshly. There is a more polite way to tell her that the salt is too much. She said that there is a way you correct and it won’t look like criticizing.

4. She said that if things are not properly managed in the Criticism Stage, then it could lead to the fighting stage. She said it is surprising to see couples beating themselves but it is because they were not able to manage the previous stages

5. Avoidance Stage

This is when couples use one word to answer one another. She said that couples do not need to keep malice in their homes. God dwells where there is joy, peace, and praise while the devil feast where there is commotion, fighting, and misunderstanding. Ensure that the environment of your home is conducive to the Holy Spirit every time.
