About this listen
LAURA GOODWIN is a scientist, a swimming coach, a mom and an open water swimmer that is planning on crossing the English Channel between July 12-19 2022. The English Channel separates England and France and is at its narrowest between Dover and Calais. This iconic unassisted swimming marathon expands over 33 km (or 21 miles) in cold water (10 to 16C), high current, unpredictable weather and through one of the busiest seaway in the world. It is sanctionned by the Channel Swimming Association (CSA, founded 1927) and the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation (CS&PF, founded 1999). It forms part of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and the Oceans Seven. 'They come from all over the world to tackle the "Everest" of swimming - the English Channel' (https://www.dover.uk.com/channel-swimming/).
